Welcome to Shore & Table.

For years, I’ve shared recipes through our family blog, Powell Family Cooking. Along the way, I noticed I kept returning to the same ingredients and the same kinds of meals.

Seafood.

Not because I planned it that way, but because it has always been part of my life.

I grew up in Panama City, spent years in the Galveston area, and now live in Tarpon Springs. My grandfather was from Louisiana, and a few of those Cajun influences still show up in the way I cook today. Over time, those places found their way into the recipes I saved, cooked, tested, and shared.

Some of my favorite memories involve seafood, but not necessarily the recipes. It’s the people and places I remember most: cleaning crabs with family in the kitchen, oyster shucking, fishing boats heading out before sunrise, seafood restaurants along the Gulf, the sponge docks in Tarpon Springs, fish markets, and conversations and laughter around the table.

The more I cooked, the more those influences started showing up on our table.

Shore & Table is where they come together.

Some recipes come from family traditions. Some are inspired by restaurants, local markets, cookbooks, and coastal towns. Others started because I tasted something memorable and wanted to recreate it at home.

You’ll find shrimp, fish, crab, oysters, scallops, seafood appetizers, and recipes for entertaining, along with the regional influences that make coastal cooking so interesting.

This collection is inspired by the Gulf Coast and the communities connected to it. The recipes are rooted in real kitchens, real meals, and places that continue to shape the way I cook today.

As the collection grows, it will help shape future cookbooks, regional recipe collections, and new projects still taking form.

For now, I’m focused on the recipes.

The ones worth making again and again.

I’m glad you’re here. 💛
